ENGLISH
This project consisted in the creation of the First Action Art Festival on Paper. The actions were created based on three premises:
1) No performance photographs
2) No performance relics
3) No performance documentation
From these rules, each artist developed a series of pieces, individually and collectively, for the preparation of this festival on paper. This publication had a circulation of 100 handmade copies which featured Edgar Canull, Debora Carnevali Ramírez, Omar Euan Rosiles, Cynthia Muciño and Gabriel Quintal and coordinated by Vicente Razo Botey.
Text taken from catalog:
This is not performance documentation. They are performances done with paper. The paper is not the final form of the action but rather what triggers it. In this case the paper-subject interaction is the action or performance sought by the artist.
It is an intervention on paper, not a piece of literature. It ´s not a performance anthology, but a collection of ideas that will be transformed into action. The artist is not present in body but in paper. It is not something that remains static but something which creates itself and changes when we witness it. The action starts since it´s printed and it never ends. It doesn´t die when ending up on paper, that´s where it´s starting it´s life. Whatever happens afterwards is part of the action´s life, consciously or unconsciously.
We have to end with the idea that the action or performance art is something that needs a body present, or rather, the artist's body. The idea of "body" has expanded. We have found ways to "extend our bodies" and that presence doesn´t necessarily need to be physical. The action is the idea and in this case the present body is the paper.
