ENGLISH This artwork was part of the exhibition Meridanas, an exhibition of female artists from Merida in honor of the International Women's Day, organized by City Hall at the Olimpo Cultural Center. The piece consisted of defining a space in the gallery for it to be free to be intervened with work brought in by spectators or any expression/statement made in the moment. On a pedestal next to it were mounting materials such as: hammer, nails, mounting tape and blank data sheets available to mount what the public would bring and in addition there were markers to write or draw directly on the wall. That way it was a space for dialogue within the exhibition where the audience was part of the art show through what they manifested on the wall.
This piece was censored on the day of the opening due to the interventions made by the spectators. The empty wall was then covered with an image created by the curator, José Luis Rodríguez de Armas, which appropriated Ingrid Betancourt´s proof of life image and intervened it in the style of Barbara Kruger with the phrase "While she has no freedom of speech, no one should feel free to express themselves".
